There are two types of asphalt plants: batch type and drum type, each with different components, production processes and applications. Batch type asphalt plant can produce high quality asphalt mixtures in batches, which is suitable for paving high-grade roads, such as highways. The capacity of the batch plant is large, ideal for large and medium-sized projects. Drum mix asphalt plant can continuously produce asphalt mixtures, so it is also called continuous asphalt mixing plant. The capacity of the plant is relatively small, commonly used for small projects. Due to the lack of accurate measurement, no powder is added, and the bitumen-aggregate ratio cannot be changed accurately, the quality of the finished product is lower than that of the batch plant, so it is more suitable for paving low-grade road.
Asphalt Plant Production Process
According to the particle size, the cold aggregate is fed into different batching hoppers and then transferred from the conveyor belt to a vibrating screen. The cold aggregate with a particle size greater than 4cm is filtered out, and the others are sent into the drying drum by the inclined belt conveyor for drying and heating. Then the hot aggregates enter the bucket elevator from the burner side, and are delivered to the vibrating screen. According to the size of the sieve holes, the hot aggregate is screened into different hot silos. With accurate weighing, the hot aggregates in different hot silos go down to the mixing tank in batches according to the preset ratio. At the same time, the powder falls from the screw conveyor, and the heated liquid asphalt is also sprayed outward by the nozzle. After thorough mixing, batches of asphalt mixtures are produced.
The drying drum of the drum mix plant combines the functions of drying, heating and mixing. The cold aggregate enters the continuously rotating drum from the batching machine via a conveyor belt, dried and heated. The asphalt nozzle in the drum sprays the asphalt continuously. The ingredients are bonded and mixed with the rotation of the drum. This series of actions is continuously performed in the drying drum.
