Equipment Used in Standard Asphalt Batch Plant
- Cold aggregate supply system: cold aggregate bin and belt conveyor



- Drying system: drum dryer, coal burner or oil burner



- Elevator: to lift the hot aggregates discharged from the drum dryer into the vibrating screen

Asphalt Batch Plant Process
There are common operations for all asphalt hot mixing plant:
1. Cold aggregate storage and feeding
Cold aggregate is stored in the cold feed unit, which is metered from the hoppers onto a conveyor belt.
2. Aggregate drying and heating
Cold aggregate is transported into a drum dryer where the it is dried by tumbling through hot air.
3. Hot aggregate screening and storage
After leaving the dryer, hot aggregate is transferred by a bucket elevator to a set of vibrating screens where it is separated into four different grades.
4. Bitumen storage and weighing
At the same time, bitumen stored in the heated storage tank is weighed through weighing hopper to ensure the desired quantity is fed into the mixer.

5. Filler storage and weighing
The filler is weighed in the weigh hopper where recovered fines and imported fines can be controlled separately, making the metering very precise.
6. Mixing of aggregate, bitumen and filler material
The aggregate is dropped into the mixer and dry-mixed for 6-10 seconds, and then liquid asphalt is dropped into the mixer and mixed for additional period of time. Total mixing time is less than 60 seconds. With force mixing method, the equipment ensures a high level of quality.
7. Discharging of the finished asphalt mix
Hot mix is discharged into a storage silo or is dropped directly into a truck and transported to the job site.
8. Control of all the operations
Control panel is the heart of the unit that controls all the operations of the plant. Sophisticated control system allows for smooth and error-free operation.

The main difference between batch mix plant and drum mix plant lies in the process by which the raw materials are mixed.
In a batch plant for asphalt, the aggregate is dried first, and then transferred to the mixer where it is mixed with liquid asphalt. The system guarantees a flexible production, high accuracy and a high level of quality.
In an asphalt drum plant, all the materials are dried and mixed in a drum dryer at the same time. Without a mixing tower or elevator, the system is greatly simplified, thus reducing your maintenance costs.
